We may not be the largest practice, but that just means we can focus on delivering the very best care to each and everyone of our patients and clients.

Our branches in Galashiels and Selkirk offer a unique family feel and a comfortable setting where your pet can receive a truly personal service.

Community means everything to us, which is why we get to know every patient and client properly and offer treatments specifically tailored to your pet’s individual needs.

Our practice was founded in 1949 by Captain John Gibson at his family home in Braeside, before his son Iain took the reins in the 1970s and established the mixed Gibson & Gibson practice. After Iain retired in 2009, we turned our focus to small animals and changed our name to Border Vets.

Our next chapter began in 2017 when we joined the VetPartners group. Working alongside some of Europe’s most trusted and respected veterinary practices has allowed us to improve our services even further, whilst retaining our longtime family values.

Our story doesn’t end there! We still play an active role in our community through buying from local businesses, sponsoring the Border Book Festival and giving classes at our local rescue show.

Our newly-refurbished branches continue to deliver an outstanding service to local pets, with equipment and facilities such as a brand new x-ray machine, ultrasound scanners and haematology and biochemistry tools enabling us to deliver the highest levels of care.

We’re also proud to be a cat friendly practice with ISFM silver status and separate cat and dog wards, allowing us to provide a stress-free environment for patients and clients.
